PHARMACY/TECHNICIAN – Smith's Food & Drug Centers (Salt Lake City, Utah)
OverviewProvide exceptional customer service to help customers live healthier lives and support pharmacy operations. Collaborate with pharmacists and team members to deliver accurate medication dispensing and patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient intervention by delivering health and wellness services consistent with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain safe, clean, and inclusive work environment, ensuring accurate pricing and inventory management.
- Assist pharmacist in all responsibilities that do not require professional judgment, including medication dispensing, inventory control, and billing procedures.
- Answer phone and triage calls, manage customer inquiries, and maintain accurate data entry and product dispensing records.
- Follow company guidelines on vendor coupons, cash handling, and cash register operation, including electronic transactions.
- Maintain department standards: keep work stations clean, organized, and stocked; put away legend orders and central fill deliveries.
- Assist with health and wellness initiatives and support the promotion of compassionate, respectful service.
- Adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and company privacy policies.
- Cooperate in a high‑paced environment, manage conflict, and perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years old and meet minimum state requirements for pharmacy operations
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
- Understand and follow imaging and ordering guidelines (primary and secondary wholesalers)
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA and pharmacy recordkeeping requires
- Previous comparable experience in pharmacy or retail environment
- Experience with pharmacy clerk responsibilities and medication inventory
- Experience with EPRN or similar electronic prescription tools
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to food safety and sanitation
- Strong customer experience orientation, teamwork, written and oral communication
- Ability to work cooperatively in high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to act with honesty, integrity, and confidentiality
