The Area Operator (AO) reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The AO is responsible for overseeing the operational performance, growth, and development of assigned service areas while ensuring alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values.
The AO provides strategic leadership to Associate Directors, managers, and frontline leadership by establishing operational systems, developing infrastructure, and ensuring accountability across all programs, including Day Treatment, Residential, Community-Based Services, and ABA services. The AO works collaboratively with executive leadership to develop sustainable systems that support organizational growth, operational excellence, and high-quality client care.
The AO is responsible for implementing company initiatives across assigned locations, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, supporting business development efforts, and ensuring compliance with state regulations, contractual requirements, and organizational standards. This position serves as a liaison between executive leadership and operational teams, helping standardize processes and streamline systems throughout the organization. Areas of responsibility may change based on organizational growth and business needs.
This position does not have a productivity standard but will be held accountable for operational performance, organizational growth, increased direct service hours, and key performance indicators established quarterly by executive leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to- Build infrastructure and operational systems that support organizational growth, scalability, and development of new programs, positions, and specialty roles.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, contractual obligations, and strategic organizational goals.
- Create and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, referral sources, funding agencies, and industry leaders.
- Represent the organization professionally within the community and promote the company's mission and services.
- Provide operational leadership, sound decision-making, coaching, and mentorship to Associate Directors, Office managers, leadership and admin teams.
- Hold Clinical Directors and clinicians accountable for all clinical treatment in their area and compliance to these treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the COO and executive leadership to establish and execute short-term and long-term operational goals.
- Create systems, workflows, and performance standards that hold leadership accountable for operational excellence, infrastructure, documentation, compliance, productivity, and growth.
- Develop and revise job descriptions as organizational needs evolve.
- Partner with the Systems Manager to address productivity concerns, documentation compliance, missed deadlines, and overtime management while implementing corrective action plans when needed.
- Train leadership and frontline staff on administrative processes, operational systems, company policies, infrastructure, and organizational expectations.
- Collaborate with Clinical Directors, clinicians, and billing teams regarding authorization and preauthorization processes, client prioritization, and operational workflows.
- Foster a positive organizational culture through staff development, leadership coaching, mentoring, and accountability.
- Work alongside executive leadership to diversify funding sources, negotiate contracts, develop partnerships, and support expansion into new service areas.
- Participate in business development initiatives that strengthen community partnerships and increase referral opportunities.
- Lead and participate in internal and external audits while collaborating with Systems, Compliance, Quality Assurance, and executive leadership.
- Oversee compliance for all programs within the assigned area. Promote a culture where compliance, accountability, and ethical decision-making are expected in every aspect of operations.
