Position Purpose

The overall duty of this position is to provide temporary support to the HSE department in administering and maintaining the Applus Canada Health, Safety and Environment program. The Temporary Site HSE Advisor provides ongoing leadership and coaching to all project site personnel in safety and loss control techniques while being visible and approachable with the object of improving efficiency and minimizing losses.

The Temporary Site HSE Advisor assists with a variety of HSE procedures including supporting field hazard identification exercises, assisting the National HSE Manager in conducting incident investigations and maintaining a positive relationship with clients to ensure expectations are met in the areas of loss control environmental performance and quality.

This position is on a temporary full‑time basis. Due to the nature of this position there will be on‑call and overtime requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the support of the National HSE Manager, ensures all training and HSE requirements have been met for all project personnel.
  • Tracking and reporting client required HSE programs.
  • Organizing and issuing daily/weekly/project HSE reports for clients.
  • Preparing and participating in daily client safety meetings, providing updates on HSE concerns and action items.
  • Liaising with clients and project site personnel on work activities.
  • Communication of accurate HSE procedures and policies to all project site personnel in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures work performed is following specific permit requirements and regulations by continuously monitoring work environment.
  • Ensures all project site personnel report overall hazard identification including immediate reporting of all incidents and near miss incidents in a timely fashion.
  • Key member of the major incident investigation team.
  • Participating in weekly safety walks/management tours.
  • Preparing and participating in daily toolbox meetings.
  • Adheres to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Applus Canada Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

Education and Work Experience
  • NCSO/CSO with minimum 5 years field experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within industrial environments. Preference given to experience in similar projects or with the project owner.
  • Equivalent experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.
