Summary of RoleAs a Student Intern at IGNITE, you will help plan and facilitate Youth STEM Camps across Nova Scotia during the summer of 2026. You will play a key role in delivering IGNITE’s Youth Entrepreneurship and Up & Atom Sports and Science Camps by supporting curriculum development, engaging with youth, and managing camp logistics. This role involves travel throughout the province and is ideal for students passionate about youth engagement, education, and innovation.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Youth Camp Facilitation:
- Facilitate Youth STEM camps across Nova Scotia, including Youth Entrepreneurship and Up & Atom Sports and Science Camps.
- Work directly with youth aged 10–15 to deliver engaging, hands-on programming.
- Represent IGNITE professionally while travelling to communities across the province.
Curriculum Planning and Logistics:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and delivering interactive camp content.
- Prepare and manage camp supplies and learning materials.
- Set up camp spaces and maintain a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment.
General Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with IGNITE team members and other interns to ensure smooth camp operations.
- Participate in staff training and planning meetings before camps begin.
- Assist with documentation, reporting, and collecting feedback during and after camps.
- Post-secondary student (must be returning to studies in fall 2026).
- Passion for youth programming and education, especially in STEM fields.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; enjoys working with youth.
- Experience in camp facilitation, teaching, coaching, or youth leadership is an asset.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Comfortable travelling and staying in different communities across the province.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
- Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
