Job Introduction

Senior Buyer in Cosma International – responsible for sourcing and managing prototype and production tooling associated with new product launches. Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000. Immediate, Open Position.

• The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing prototype tooling, production tooling, assembly capital, direct buy, steel and purchased components.
• Works integrally with Presstran Engineering, Materials and Quality Teams to ensure successful product and tool launches.
• Creates, distributes, collects, and recommends all program‑related suppliers and recommends overall business cases.
• Develops and executes effective bidding, negotiation, pricing strategies and supplier recommendations to provide the best value within budgets and policies.
• Participates in design reviews with Design, Tooling and Quality Engineers to verify technical requirements for new product launches.
• Complies with program timing, engineering changes and cost savings initiatives.
• Supports on‑time delivery to help ensure timely program completion.
• Conducts activities in CMS to support purchasing.
• Uses GSA, eRFX, QPF and follows Magna and Cosma purchasing policies.
• Procures emergency requirements with requisitioning departments, achieving CSCMP designation, and maintains claim processes.
• Anticipates problems, plans accordingly, sets realistic deadlines, and provides creative solutions.

• Post‑secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration and/or Supply Chain Management; engineering background a definite asset.
• Three to five years of supply chain experience.
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet, Solarsoft IVP); advanced Excel and financial modeling skills a definite asset.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Program/project management experience a definite asset.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to uphold confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.
• Availability to work overtime and travel outside Canada with a valid passport.

The Senior Buyer works in an office environment and is required to be highly organized due to frequent work distractions. The role involves communication with internal and external vendors and requires excellent written and verbal skills.
