Summer Labourer, Waste & Recycling

Lac La Biche County is currently accepting applications for a Summer Labourer, Waste & Recycling to support operations at the Beaver Lake Landfill during the 2026 summer season. This position is ideal for a motivated student seeking hands‑on work experience in a municipal environment while contributing to safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible waste management services.
Duties- Assisting with daily landfill and recycling operations
- Directing landfill users to appropriate disposal and recycling areas
- Maintaining cleanliness of the landfill site, including litter control
- Assisting with waste diversion and recycling initiatives
- Performing general groundskeeping and manual labour duties
- Supporting staff in promoting safe work practices and public safety
- Other related duties as assigned
- Completion of Grade 12 by June 2026
- Enrolled in a post‑secondary program for Fall 2026 (proof may be required)
- Ability to perform physical work in an outdoor environment and varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions
- Effective communication skills and a positive, respectful attitude
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Outdoor, physically demanding work environment
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise
Interaction with the public at the landfill site
- Temporary Full‑Time – May to August 2026
- Hours of work: 40‑hour work week, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., shifts between Monday to Saturday.
- Hourly wage: $18.90 to $24.64
- All summer/seasonal employees receive an all‑access pass to the Bold Centre and Pool for the term of employment.
