Job Description

American Iron & Metal is looking to add a Dispatch Assistant to join our growing logistics team. Every AIM employee takes great pride in their job and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of the company.

As part of AIM Dispatch team, the candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to accounts while scheduling company drivers to service customers.

This is a fast-paced dynamic environment that requires the ability to problem solve and will provide the chance for learning every day.

We will provide the chosen candidate with the proper training on all company software and procedure to ensure their success.

  • Assist in scheduling and dispatching all regional drivers and partnered brokers in Atlantic Canada
  • Coordinate and dispatch cross-border shipments, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including filing, data entry, invoicing support, and reporting.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries via phone and email.
  • Track vehicle and equipment availability and coordinate maintenance schedules when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to optimize routes, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Resolve schedule and route changes, delays, and updates to customers and team members.
  • Assist with ongoing projects directed by the Dispatch Team Lead.
Qualifications
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism through phone etiquette.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Availability to work day shifts.
