Accounting Specialist

Accountant – Onsite in the St. Joe, MI area

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist with 1–3 years of hands‑on accounting experience. This role supports multiple accounting areas, including AP, AR, billing, cash application, reconciliations, freight, and month‑end activities
.

Responsibilities

• Process AP transactions, vendor payments, and company pay runs.
• Manage customer billing, collections, and cash application.
• Process credit card payments and bank receipts.
• Prepare recurring customer and intercompany billings.
• Assist with freight billing and reconciliation.
• Perform account reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Maintain customer and tax-exemption records.
• Assist with month‑end close and inventory/invoicing support.
• Cross‑train in additional accounting functions.
• Identify process issues and assist with accounting improvements.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, AP, AR, or related experience.
• Hands‑on transactional accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of AP and AR processes.
• Experience with invoicing, cash application, and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments.
• Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.

Preferred

• Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• ERP experience;
  Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
• Month‑end close experience.
• Intercompany or multi‑entity accounting experience.
• Recent accounting graduates with strong internship or relevant experience may be considered.
