Primary Role

The Sr Coordinator, Operations Support provides administrative and operational support to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of services. The role coordinates work assignments, monitors progress, supports safety initiatives, and maintains accurate records and documentation. Serving as a transitional role between frontline operations and leadership, the position offers exposure to business, technical, and administrative aspects of operations while developing skills needed to advance into supervisory roles.

Accountabilities
  • Assist supervisors in coordinating, scheduling, and prioritizing daily field activities to ensure safe and timely work completion.
  • Provide on‑site oversight of field work, verifying safety compliance, operational quality, and adherence to standards and procedures.
  • Conduct safety site visits and field observations; identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are communicated to supervisors.
  • Support administrative and technical tasks, including preparing and maintaining documentation, managing work orders, and updating operational systems.
  • Research, track, and help resolve customer inquiries or service issues by coordinating with internal departments and field teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to field employees, answering questions about work processes, materials, or operational procedures.
  • Review and assist with reports, schedules, and data entry to support performance tracking, operational analysis, and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and team briefings to reinforce awareness and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between field employees and supervisors, promoting communication, problem‑solving, and alignment with business goals.
  • Make low‑level operational decisions within defined parameters; escalates complex or higher‑risk issues to supervisory leadership.
  • Support emergency response activities and assist with on‑call, after‑hours duties, and holiday coverage, as assigned.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of field operations, maintenance practices, and safety requirements within a water and/or wastewater environment.
  • Working knowledge of administrative processes, scheduling, and work management systems.
Skills
  • Ability to interpret work orders, maps, plans, and technical documentation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (e.g., report writing, listening, plan reading and creating, and presentation).
  • Strong interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, persuasion, team building, cooperation, leadership, motivation of others).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, influence, and support teams without direct supervisory authority.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and operational systems such as SAP, SCADA GIS, or equivalent.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills to assist in research, reporting, and customer issue resolution.
  • Commitment to safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Experience / Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in field operations, construction, maintenance, or a related utility or service environment.
  • Experience providing administrative, technical, or scheduling support preferred.
Travel Requirements
  • Primarily field‑based with frequent travel within assigned areas for inspections, coordination, and site visits.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Certifications & Licenses
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Applicable operator licenses or certifications preferred (e.g., Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection).
Work Environment
  • Standard indoor office environment and outdoor field environment. Duties may be performed in operational or construction environments, near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and possibly exposure to physical hazards, weather extremes, wet and/or humid conditions, and chemicals. Personal protective equipment required.
  • May include irregular hours, emergency response, and on‑call rotations.
