Responsibilities

As a Literacy Instructional Coach with Bailey Education Group, your day is dedicated to empowering educators and enhancing literacy outcomes through research‑driven strategies rooted in the Science of Reading. You will begin by partnering with teachers and school leaders in local schools, whether in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Ogallala, or surrounding areas. Your day includes conducting classroom observations, modeling effective teaching techniques, and providing real‑time feedback to ensure high‑quality, standards‑aligned reading instruction.

You'll also guide teams in analyzing assessment data to identify student needs and refine instructional practices. Your customized coaching approach fosters strong relationships with educators, celebrates their successes, and bolsters their confidence and skills. As your day winds down, you might offer virtual support to a rural school or prepare for upcoming visits. Each day presents new challenges, yet your impactful work ensures students develop the foundational literacy skills essential for their future success.

Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of early literacy development and evidence‑based practices aligned with the Science of Reading (e.g., phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension)
  • Strong knowledge of structured literacy frameworks and their practical application in K‑5 classrooms
  • Familiarity with Missouri’s English Language Arts standards and early reading assessment tools
  • Proven ability to analyze student data to inform instruction and support tiered interventions
  • Experience coaching or mentoring educators with the ability to model lessons, facilitate planning, and provide constructive feedback
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with teachers and school leaders
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple coaching assignments, track progress and provide consistent follow‑up
  • Comfort using technology and virtual platforms to support coaching in both in‑person and remote settings
  • A growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to adapt to various school environments and educator needs across Missouri
