Position TitleParent Educator – Tier 1
Qualifications- Required:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a program serving families and their young children, with 60 college credit hours. - Preferred:
College degree in early childhood development, family studies, social work or a related field. - Training
Required:
This position requires 2 weeks of training (80 hours) for Foundational 1 and Foundational 2 training with Parents as Teachers National Center. Both training sessions will take place remotely.

Specific work hours are established by home visit appointments set by parent educators and Early Childhood Developmental Screening events for the community of St. Joseph. Families are expected to receive visits during a 12-month period and will require evening and weekend hours.
Essential Job Functions- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To “telework” when requested by the District.
- Complete requirement to become a certified Parent Educator in accordance with the Parents As Teachers National Center model.
- Deliver home visits to caregivers of young children according to the Parents As Teachers National Center Model. This includes partnering with parents to deliver content related to child development, family well-being, and development-centered parenting.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
- Complete Health and Developmental, and Social Emotional Screenings both in the home and in the community.
- Plan and facilitate Group Connections in accordance with the PAT model.
- Connect families to community resources.
- Participate in recruiting and outreach throughout the community and within the district.
- Engage in annual Professional Development required for recertification.
- Attend monthly Staff meetings.
- Complete monthly Reflective Supervision in accordance with the PAT model.
- Other duties as assigned by the Parents as Teachers Supervisor.
- Be organized, independent and self-motivated.
- Be competent with technology including email, internet, and the web-based record keeping systems.
- Personal, reliable transportation to provide home visits throughout the school district.
