Workforce Development Instructor - Part-time
Missouri Western State University is hiring workforce development instructors to teach continuing education courses on an as‑needed basis. The courses cover leadership, Lean, construction/industrial technology, IT certifications, mechanical and electrical technician training. Instruction will be for non‑credit programs and primarily face‑to‑face, with possible day or evening sessions.
About Missouri Western & the Houlne CenterMissouri Western State University (MWSU) and North Central Missouri College (NCMC) collaborate to grow the region’s skilled manufacturing and construction workforce. The newly constructed Houlne Center for Convergent Technology provides practical, applied learning instruction in skilled manufacturing, construction professions, and innovative service technologies such as AI, robotics, GIS, sensor technologies, information technology and cybersecurity.
EssentialJob Duties
- Take attendance and be present for all scheduled training or classroom hours.
- Be available to respond to student inquiries via email or telephone in a timely and professional manner.
- Present the subject‑matter curriculum in its entirety within the allotted time.
- Instruct on the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in the syllabus and program outline.
- Show respect to all students and participants at all times.
- Dress in business casual and professional attire at all times.
- Use creative strategies in assigned programs to keep students engaged and support retention and success.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Abide by all applicable university academic and employment policies.
- Associate’s degree with 2+ years industry‑specific experience, or
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- Proficiency in the area of study, including proof of certifications and qualifications where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Teaching experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to exchange information and receive work direction.
- Confidence in presenting subject matter knowledge in front of groups.
- Ability to relate curriculum to real‑world experience.
- Comfortable using a laptop with Microsoft and Google applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Drive, Docs).
Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or negligible force constantly to move objects.
- The position may require evening or weekend hours of work.
- Limited teaching engagements throughout the year for workforce development.
- Possible days, evenings or weekends.
