SUMMARY: Line Lead will provide day-to-day assistance to Department Supervisor with leadership and management of shift employees. As lead, will assist in establishing means and methods to insure all employees perform job functions correctly and safely and ensuring department expectations are met with adherence to company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists with the day-to-day leadership and management for production employees within department.
- In absence of Supervisor, will direct, instruct and provide feedback to employees including communicating any changes in policies or procedures as needed.
- Ensure all new hires and existing employees perform their jobs safely, correctly, and with the highest level of quality and ability.
- Coordinate all new employee activities and training relative to shift.
- Follow up with staff and on daily processes when and where assigned
- Perform personnel administration for paperwork, planning, and production analysis.
- In the absence of the manager record employee hours, attendance, and notify supervisor of any concerns. Additionally, ensure that all weekly and daily reports are turned in timely and accurately.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and hold others accountable.
- Ensure monitoring and prescribed checks of all operating equipment are carried out as required for proper operation.
- Maintain proper records and logs of activities, operating conditions and down time.
- Understand, support and help implement/maintain the Quality Management System (QMS), Operating Policies, and Daily’s safety programs.
LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervises employees under the direction of the Department Supervisor and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Two to five years production experience required; preferably in pork industry.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual skills preferred.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to perform necessary calculations for completion of departmental paperwork.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK
ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to waste material, feed and hog dust.
The noise level the work environment is usually moderate but sometimes very loud.
