American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Acute Rehab Med/Surg unit requiring BSN and at least 1-2 years of nursing experience.

• Acute Rehabilitation Unit within a hospital setting caring for patients discharged from acute care requiring 1+ week of PT/OT/speech therapy
• Patient population includes post-surgical, post-stroke, CHF, orthopedic, and general med-surg patients requiring prolonged therapy
• Patient ratio of 1:5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Non-telemetry unit though patients may occasionally require IVs and lab draws
• Night shift, 3x12 hours,
• Every 3rd weekend required
• Holiday block required during the contract
• Floating required to like units within the hospital at any time
• EPIC charting system used
• Team-based care model working closely with physical therapy and care management teams

• Active RN license (MO State or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start
• BSN required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; first-time travelers considered with 2 years of experience
• Must pass a Basic EKG exam with 80% or higher (2 attempts allowed)
• Must pass a telemetry test prior to starting
• EPIC experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Responsible for performing own IV insertions and lab draws during shifts

• Provide direct patient care including daily activities of living, medication administration, and patient teaching
• Collaborate with physical therapy and care management teams to plan patient discharge upon admission
• Unit is currently expanding with 18 additional beds, creating multiple staffing opportunities
• Must complete all organizational mandatory education and check email regularly for updates
• Schedule is created 6 weeks in advance, which may limit self-scheduling opportunities for incoming travelers
• No smoking or leaving premises during shift
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for standard travel rate
• Previous employees must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Extension opportunities likely for strong-fit candidates; conversion to permanent positions possible
