The Nestlé Development Center (NDC) in St. Joseph, MO is home to dogs and cats who help us learn, research, and better understand the well-being of pets and promote the human-animal bond. When you join us, you’ll work to ensure our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting-edge pet food research. Research that contributes to innovative, first-to-market dietary solutions as well as trusted all-life-stage pet food.
The center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. St. Joseph is a tight-knit, rural community packed with character, still within commuting distance to the city, providing many residential opportunities.
- Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and the Nestlé Purina R&D Petcare Manual
- Adherence to Nestlé Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
- Accurately and reliably record data as outlined by the requesting project scientists
- Collect and process samples for standard and non-standard nutrition tests
- Obtain animal body weights and Body Condition Scoring (BCS)
- Provide care including daily feedings of the pets and basic grooming
- Report to the veterinary staff when a sick or unusual behavior is observed in the pets
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of professional animal handling/husbandry and/or regular care of animals
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Zoology, or related field
The approximate pay range for this position is $40,000 to $60,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good‑faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
