Field Services Technician I

Position Summary: The Field Services Team of Mercury Broadband is the customer facing unit of the company. The team should be professional in attitude and appearance and engaged with our customers needs. Field Services should be mindful and thorough in their work; following installation and safety guidelines, and instructions from the Field Team Supervisor.

Key responsibilities:

Installation of wireless broadband and/or fiber-optic service at customer premises
Interact with subscribers and represent the company in a professional manner
Properly configure and connect customer's home equipment to the Mercury Network
Troubleshoot customer broadband and/or fiber equipment
Assist sales team with localized marketing efforts
Other duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements:

Follow cabling procedures for wiring homes and businesses
Comfortable working on ladders, roofs, elevated locations, and other residential or commercial structures
Basic mechanical skills
Knowledge of and ability to operate basic hand and power tools
Basic computer skills and proficiency with computers
Basic computer networking skills and knowledge
Use of PC based applications to program and diagnose various communications equipment
Clean driving record and valid drivers license
Self-Motivated
Customer service oriented and professional in appearance
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, sit, and traverse job sites for extended periods.

Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and squat repeatedly.

Ability to reach and grasp with hands and arms; must maintain balance during tasks, including carrying tools or materials while climbing.

Ability to climb ladders (up to 2540 ft), stairs, scaffolds, lifts, and elevated platforms using proper fall protection.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50100 lbs (frequently or repetitively depending on task).

Ability to move equipment up and down stairs when necessary.

Sufficient hand strength and dexterity to operate hand tools and power tools as well as work with cables, connectors, microwave gear, and small components.

Ability to work outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions year-round, including harsh environments.

Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, tight or confined areas.

Ability to stand or kneel for long periods.

Ability to ride in a vehicle for extended periods when traveling to job sites.

Ability to work around live electrical components and sensitive equipment.

Ability to see the full color spectrum (important for cable/connector identification).

Normal visual acuity and hand-eye coordination for detailed installation work.

Ability to hear and communicate effectively with team members or customers.

Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.

Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

May be required to operate general office equipment including but not limited to copiers, printers.
