Herzog Railroad Services Inc. is currently seeking responsible, self-motivated Specialized Equipment Operators
who thrive in high-trust environments across the United States to join our team.

• Car Topper (the first machine you’ll learn and master)

This career opportunity offers 2 months paid training, competitive wages starting at $24.00/hour, per diem of $181/day, mileage reimbursement of $0.76/mile, and $24.00/hour drive time.

• Operate specialized heavy equipment.
• Work day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Work extended hours (time and a half over 40hrs/wk.)
• Be on call and ready to mobilize in short notice.
• Drive lengthy distances to reach jobsites (coast to coast travel potential).
• Work in sometimes remote locations.
• Perform routine mechanical maintenance to equipment.
• Perform light duty mechanical repairs (hoses, fittings, wiring, fuses, etc.).
• Use of laptop and Microsoft office products daily.
• Use of wireless internet devices, touch screen devices and email use.
• Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
• Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Our operators go the extra mile to meet our customer’s needs. Extensive travel time is required in this position. Approximately 80% of time OR MORE may be spent away from home on an annual basis. Extended periods working in a location are to be expected. While our operators are compensated accordingly, this commitment to travel time should be seriously considered prior to applying for this position.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous track hoe, backhoe, and excavator experience preferred
• Previous Railroad experience is desirable but not required
• Basic mechanical ability required
• Must furnish pickup
• Extensive travel required
• Must furnish basic hand tools
• Must be able to cover travel expenses (if required) until 1st paycheck is processed (approximately 7-10 after start date)
• Company provides required Personal Protective Equipment including a Safety Boots Allowance Program.

• Pass and maintain e-RAILSAFE pre-employment background check and safety certification.
• Subject to motor vehicle report review.
• Maintain valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
• Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
• This position requires you to pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
• Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

• Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and transfer up to 10 feet.
