Responsibilities- Perform echo cardiographic procedures on adult patients in the Cardiology Noninvasive Laboratory, including M-Mode echocardiography, Two-Dimensional echocardiography, contrast echocardiography, pulsed, continuous wave, and color flow Doppler echocardiography, stress echocardiography, dobutamine echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and related duties as assigned.
- Support and participate in achieving departmental goals.
- Mon-Fri
- 6:30-4:30 (8-hour shifts), with occasional weekends and call
- Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
Graduation from an allied health diagnostic program or on-the-job training specific to echocardiography. - Licensure/Registration/Certification:
Registration as a RDCS or RCS within 1 year of hire or, if trained on the job, registration required required within three months of hire. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of electrocardiography and arrhythmias and conduction disturbances; sterile technique; mathematical principles including algebra; use of defibrillator and crash cart; ability to perform CPR; ability to work effectively with critically ill/injured adult patients; ability to gain optimal cooperation from adult patients; ability to recognize and report equipment problems; ability to carry out basic clerical activities; knowledge of all procedures in the Cardiology Noninvasive Laboratory;
knowledge and ability to operate computerized echo cardiographic equipment; knowledge of echocardiography techniques including instrumentation, artifact recognition, setup errors, transducer selection, use of contrast agents and provocative maneuvers; knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and hemodynamics of valve disease and cardiovascular anatomy; ability to perform qualitative evaluation of cardiac valves, chambers, and wall segments; ability to identify and assess echo cardiographic abnormalities; ability to acquire, analyze, calculate, and measure essential information for diagnostic interpretation;
ability to identify prosthetic valves and assess function and malfunction; ability to independently perform high-quality stress and dobutamine echocardiograms; assist with transesophageal echocardiograms at bedside and in the operating room; ability to recognize acute processes and alert physician immediately.
