Position Summary

The Quality Technician supports quality assurance across our direct mail printing operations by conducting spot checks during production, verifying that products meet internal and customer standards, and ensuring smooth handoffs between design, production, and mailing. This role collaborates closely with production teams and customers to ensure product designs are optimized for our equipment and quality expectations are clearly defined and met.

The Quality Technician also supports continuous improvement and ISO compliance efforts.

Primary

Job Responsibilities
  • Color and Print Quality Monitoring:
    Conduct spot checks on press to verify color accuracy, registration, and overall print quality. Partner with press operators to identify and resolve print defects in real time.
  • Spot Checks and In-Process Audits:
    Perform regular in-process inspections throughout production to ensure quality standards are consistently upheld across departments and shifts.
  • Nonconformance Management:
    Accurately document quality issues, communicate findings to production and leadership teams, and support root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and FMEA exercises.
  • Process Audits and Standards Compliance:
    Audit workflows and production practices to ensure compliance with ISO and internal standards. Escalate concerns and recommend improvements where necessary.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work with internal teams and customers to evaluate print-ready designs and product specifications, ensuring they align with production capabilities and quality standards.
  • Documentation and Training Support:
    Help maintain quality control documentation and training materials. Support team member onboarding and ongoing training on quality procedures and ISO requirements.
  • Reporting and Continuous Improvement:
    Generate quality reports, analyze trends, and contribute to initiatives that improve quality, reduce waste, and enhance process reliability.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in print production or quality preferred.
  • Experience in printing, manufacturing, or quality control environments.
  • Understanding color quality, print processes, and USPS mailing standards is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Smartsheet.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality standards.
  • Self-motivated and dependable with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with customers.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Team-oriented, open to feedback, and focused on continuous improvement.
