Project Accountant – TW Constructors (TWC), St. Louis, MO. Full Time

Role:
The Project Accountant maintains strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job cost systems. This role supports project teams by answering invoice inquiries and providing insight into job cost reports. The Project Accountant must manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely invoicing. Strong communication skills and proficiency with financial systems are essential to support project managers and engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

• Accounts Payable Duties — Receive, code, and route invoices for approval; enter approved invoices into the accounting system with accurate coding; review vendor records and statements; resolve billing or payment discrepancies; communicate with vendors regarding payment status; assist with 1099 forms and GAAP compliance; collect and maintain W-9 forms; organize open and paid AP files; monitor subcontractor records; verify that billings do not exceed contractual limits or pending change orders;
  
  proactively request invoices from subcontractors and vendors when necessary.
• Accounts Receivable Duties — Prepare and distribute customer invoices (including AIA documentation) per contractual terms; process invoices electronically (e.g., Data Serv, Textura); generate AR aging reports and collections summaries; submit invoices with required documentation (lien waivers, schedules, copies of invoices); record invoices in the accounting system and any applicable third-party software.
• Administrative Responsibilities — Forward contracts and subcontracts to the legal team for review; prepare subcontracts and purchase orders as directed; ensure subcontractors receive appropriate contractual documentation; assist with CCIP documentation; support month-end and year-end close; maintain organized financial records for audit readiness and compliance; collaborate with accounting staff to improve efficiency and controls; assist with special projects, reconciliations, and financial reporting as needed.

• Associate degree or equivalent knowledge; BS/BA in Accounting preferred
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a General Contractor or Subcontractor
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Office applications, and Google Sheets
• Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Experience with Computer Ease is a plus
