Description
Established in 1998 as an independently governed not-for-profit organization, the St. Louis Education Fund mobilizes community resources and expertise for the benefit of students in the St. Louis Public Schools. Since its inception, the Fund has raised and distributed millions to support SLPS students and has served as an important catalyst of reform and innovation.
The St. Louis Education Fund seeks an individual with strong bookkeeping skills to fill this part-time position minimum of 15 hours per week. This individual will work closely with the Fund’s Development & Operations Manager to monitor contributions and transactions that support funded initiatives in areas that are aligned with the Fund’s strategy. Fund-supported initiatives fall under three priority areas: (1) health, wellness, and safety;
(2) preK-8 literacy; and (3) post-secondary readiness and opportunity. The ideal candidate should understand the mission of the Fund and be able to support our vision and goals through accurate and timely bookkeeping.
- Provide fund account managers of restricted fund accounts with assistance in accessing their fund account reports.
- Reconcile monthly gift reports with accountants using CRM data exports on incoming gifts, internal Excel spreadsheets on outgoing checks and transactions, and internal receipts on expense card transactions.
- Identify and investigate the root of issues when two or more spreadsheets cannot be reconciled.
- Support the maintenance of accounting integrity through regular data audits, flagging incorrectly designated transactions, and ensuring follow up with accountants.
- Attends weekly accounting meetings (Wednesdays 10am-12pm).
- Completes weekly hours & schedule as required.
- Provides a written activity report of all transactions completed the previous week during weekly check-ins.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience plus at least 5 – 7 years experience in the accounting field.
- Nonprofit/fund accounting experience is a plus.
- Data entry experience.
- Experience with Quickbooks preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency with data entry and management in Microsoft Office (Excel) and Google Sheets required.
- Strong time management and organization skills with good judgment in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to keep up a task independently, once trained.
- Ability to keep up with regular responsibilities while attending to unexpected, time sensitive requests.
- Flexible schedule.
- Hybrid schedule possible.
- No weekends or evenings required.
