Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement review.
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Prepare non-routine journal entries related to acquisitions, revenue cycle transactions, and special projects.
• Partner with financial and operational leaders to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Perform variance analysis and provide detailed commentary on budget vs. actual results.
• Generate and distribute KPIs and financial statements with analysis by practice, department, location, and provider.
• Create and maintain banking infrastructure, including user access administration.
• Assist with cash flow management, including funding payroll and other large expenditures.
• Oversee payroll accounting processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll-related accruals such as 401(k) profit sharing, bonuses, vacation, and other payroll items.
• Serve as the primary contact for payroll system–related issues and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure proper payroll and benefits onboarding for new practices.
• Supervise and mentor team members to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion of tasks.
• Provide coaching, training, and ongoing development to enhance team performance.
• Maintain high standards of operational efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions.
• Evaluate and streamline accounting processes to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Lead automation initiatives, including enhancements to treasury structure and daily cash reconciliation processes.
• Integrate treasury platforms with ERP systems to automate cash activity.
• Leverage data warehouse tools to automate processes, support assumptions, explain results, and reconcile accounts receivable.
• Lead onboarding and integration of newly affiliated practices into centralized accounting platforms and systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for payroll, accounting, and reporting.
• Maintain strong internal controls and prepare for internal and external audits.
• Ensure accounting procedures reflect current regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the main point of contact for annual financial, benefit plan, and workers’ compensation audits.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in general accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, Index/Match, etc.).
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience with multi-site payroll.
• Experience in healthcare (preferred but not required).
• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAGE Intacct and BILL.
