Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement review.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare non-routine journal entries related to acquisitions, revenue cycle transactions, and special projects.
- Partner with financial and operational leaders to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Perform variance analysis and provide detailed commentary on budget vs. actual results.
- Generate and distribute KPIs and financial statements with analysis by practice, department, location, and provider.
- Create and maintain banking infrastructure, including user access administration.
- Assist with cash flow management, including funding payroll and other large expenditures.
- Oversee payroll accounting processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and reconcile payroll-related accruals such as 401(k) profit sharing, bonuses, vacation, and other payroll items.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll system–related issues and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure proper payroll and benefits onboarding for new practices.
- Supervise and mentor team members to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion of tasks.
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing development to enhance team performance.
- Maintain high standards of operational efficiency and accuracy across accounting functions.
- Evaluate and streamline accounting processes to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Lead automation initiatives, including enhancements to treasury structure and daily cash reconciliation processes.
- Integrate treasury platforms with ERP systems to automate cash activity.
- Leverage data warehouse tools to automate processes, support assumptions, explain results, and reconcile accounts receivable.
- Lead onboarding and integration of newly affiliated practices into centralized accounting platforms and systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for payroll, accounting, and reporting.
- Maintain strong internal controls and prepare for internal and external audits.
- Ensure accounting procedures reflect current regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the main point of contact for annual financial, benefit plan, and workers’ compensation audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in general accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, Index/Match, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with multi-site payroll.
- Experience in healthcare (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAGE Intacct and BILL.
