Director of Accounting

Description Kforce's client, a growing real estate organization in Saint Louis, MO, is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and financial planning. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an accounting professional with strong real estate development experience. Responsibilities:
* Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliations
* Ensure compliance with government funding, tax, and regulatory reporting requirements
* Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger and accounts payable, while partnering closely with accounts receivable
* Manage annual financial and compliance audits
* Oversee cash flow management, construction draws, capitalization, and cost allocations for lease-up projects
* Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, internal processes, and financial controls
* Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve financial efficiency
* Provide financial insights and risk-management recommendations to senior leadership
* Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while strengthening financial knowledge across the organization
* Partner cross-functionally to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial information Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA or MBA preferred
* 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
* Strong background in real estate development accounting and affordable housing finance
* Experience with government-funded projects
* Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, SAGE, or similar accounting systems, plus advanced Excel skills
* Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Valid driver's license required
