Overview
The Archdiocese of St. Louis Catholic Education and Formation features an expansive coalition of schools serving over 50,000 students (PreK-12) within an 11-county area. The educational experience is rooted in our faith and mission to honor and celebrate the gifts God has given us. The Camp Counselor at St Raphael the Archangel supports summer camp programs by guiding children with kindness, enthusiasm, and a positive faith-based environment focused on fun, safety, friendship, and faith.
Job Responsibilities- Guide children toward fun, friendship, and faith in Jesus
- Engage children through joyful activities and help them make friends
- Lead simple prayers and discussions about Jesus
- Follow the Camp Director’s plans for daily and weekly activities
- Fill unexpected gaps with cheerful improvisation
- Support the Camp Director and assist in preparing materials for activities
- Prepare facilities before each day and reorganize after each day
- Assist with other daily tasks as assigned
- Work with the Camp Director to ensure camp facilities are ready
- Keep children safe and help teach camp expectations
- Discipline children appropriately and monitor those with dietary or activity restrictions
- Assist in checking children into and out of camp each day
- One to three years of school, camp, or child-care experience preferred
- Knowledge of the Catholic faith is preferred
- Active practice of personal faith in Jesus Christ
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially with children in grades K-2
- Kindness and patience
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Friendly, welcoming attitude
- Collaborate closely with the Camp Director
- Sufficient mobility, energy, and health to sustain continual interaction with energetic children
