Sr. Construction Inspector
Join GFT as a Sr. Construction Inspector in the Construction Team in St. Louis, MO. This hybrid role requires regular attendance at our St. Louis office.
What You Will DoOversee construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, conduct inspections, prepare material samples for laboratory testing, and maintain documentation. Serve as the daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of projects including construction observations and change orders.
- Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
- Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
- Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
- Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
- Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approve installation.
- Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
- Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders.
- Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
- Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
- Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance.
- Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.
High school diploma.
10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
What You Will Bring To Our Firm- High school diploma.
- 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
- A safety-first mindset.
- Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
- ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended, but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
- Ability and desire to lead.
The hourly range for this role is $30.00–$41.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
