Owners Rep needed with a Superintendent or Construction Manager background for a contract or contract-to-hire position for a booming solar utility developer. The Superintendent/Construction Manager will be working about 1 hour outside of St. Louis, MO in central IL, overseeing an EPC build of a solar utility site working Monday‑Friday 10‑hour shifts.
As Owners Rep – Construction Manager you will oversee and drive construction and safety operations of utility‑scale energy storage construction projects. In this critical role, you will oversee all aspects of project execution on behalf of the owner, ensuring successful delivery within budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Represent the Owner during all phases of construction, from pre‑construction to project closeout, promoting a strong culture of safety and professionalism.
- Manage site activities to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Owner’s suppliers, contractors, engineers, and local authorities.
- Manage and coordinate equipment supplier deliveries and goods receipt processes.
- Collaborate with Contractor and Controls Manager to ensure clarity in the construction schedule and progress.
- Proactively identify potential delays and drive recovery measures with contractors to maintain project timelines.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with project execution, including technical, financial, and safety concerns.
- Review and provide feedback on engineering designs, construction drawings, and technical specifications for constructability.
- Ensure that construction activities align with energy storage technology requirements and industry best practices.
- Oversee quality control procedures and check contractor work to ensure that all work meets design standards and owner expectations.
- Verify that completed work complies with regulatory requirements, permits, and project specifications.
- 5+ years of experience with on‑site construction management with utility‑scale energy projects.
- Proven track record of managing complex construction projects from start to finish as an owner’s representative or in a similar role.
- Experience working as an Owner’s Rep preferred.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project).
- Exceptional leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations and safety standards.
