Position: Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part Time) - Le Méridien St. Louis Clayton
Location: St. Louis

Position overview

A Technician is responsible for the set up and operation of basic / small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Pay

Base pay range: $15.09/hr - $18.49/hr

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation:
    Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service:
    Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain a positive relationship with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure their needs are met and the equipment setup is working properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability:
    Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem solve with equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge:
    Understand company processes, follow procedures, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with staff and outside vendors; apply floor up-selling techniques; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required;
    Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Internal applicants: must meet all training and certification requirements as determined by Encore’s Global Learning Training Program in their current position and for the position applied to.
  • External applicants: must meet/complete all training and certifications required for this position within one year.
  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for team members operating Company vehicles.
  • Additional DOT requirements may apply if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Physical Requirements
  • Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching (above head), climbing as specified in job duties
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs; carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Auditory/Visual: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hearing
  • Pushing/pulling of 0 - 100 lbs as needed
Work Environment
  • Hotel/convention center environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, sand and/or dust; work in moderately quiet to noisy conditions; use of high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components; exposure to heights via lifts and ladders; may work in multiple hotel locations; irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends and holidays; appearance guidelines per Encore requirements.
