Position Summary

The Project Architect reports to the Director of Architecture and leads the development of accurate, coordinated construction documents. The role collaborates with consultants, contractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure clarity, quality, and alignment with project goals while mentoring junior design staff and supporting overall architectural excellence.

Essential Duties
  • Lead the creation of construction drawings and specifications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across projects.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and client representatives to align scope, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Partner with the Director of Architecture to track schedules, progress, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with the development team to identify and integrate design opportunities that meet project objectives.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Design Professionals to support their growth.
  • Review consultant documents, shop drawings, and submittals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Facilitate and participate in client and consultant meetings; document decisions and oversee implementation.
  • Assist in quality assurance and quality control reviews to maintain consistency, accuracy, and firm standards across deliverables.
  • Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and prepare field reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications,

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture required by hire date; NAAB‑accredited program preferred.
  • Licensed Architect or actively working toward licensure.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems, codes, and detailing.
  • Experience producing full sets of construction documents.
  • Proficiency in Revit for production and coordination, and Enscape for visualization.
  • Ability to coordinate across disciplines and communicate clearly with consultants and contractors with a strong commitment to serving in‑house team members.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing repeat project workflows.
Working Conditions
  • May require walking or standing for extended periods while visiting project sites.
  • May need to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • May need to move through areas of the office or other worksites.
  • Actively participate in all staff activities aimed at fostering teamwork, unity, and morale.
  • Required to stay current on all training and ongoing education initiatives; expected to pursue continuous learning.
  • Position is required to work onsite at the St. Louis Dover Companies headquarters.
  • Travel may be required to offsite company locations, not exceeding 10% of annual work.
