Assistant Cheer Coach

The Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis is seeking to hire an Assistant Cheer Coach at the Lutheran North Middle and High School campus for the 2025–2026 school year. • Support the Head Cheer Coach in teaching and coaching cheerleading skills, including stunts, tumbling, jumps, and dance with an emphasis on safety, technique, and performance quality.
• Assist with planning and executing practices, game-day performances, pep rallies, and team events; may support team travel and recruitment.
• Help develop team strategies, foster teamwork, and build positive relationships with students, families, and the school community.
• Ensure athlete safety during all activities; enforce school and MSHSAA policies, and ensure compliance with governing regulations.
• Support the head coach with administrative tasks such as equipment distribution, recordkeeping, attendance tracking, and managing participant eligibility.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with athletes, parents, other coaches, and administrators.
• Model and promote sportsmanship, leadership, and positive team culture.
• Attend required training, coaches’ meetings, and professional development as required by the school or governing body.

• High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework or degree preferred).
• Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to season start).
• Previous cheer coaching or competitive cheer experience preferred (school, collegiate, or all-star).
• Ability to work effectively with students and adults in a diverse, urban school environment. Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; approachable and team-oriented.
• Commitment to student-athlete development, safety, and upholding the school’s mission and values.
• Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and USA Cheer safety guidelines.
