Job SummaryA Substitute Teacher is responsible for teaching and supervising students in the absence of the regular teacher, following lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and ensuring the safety and well‑being of students.
Responsibilities- Follow lesson plans and deliver instructional content.
- Adapt lessons to meet diverse student needs.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
- Enforce school rules and policies, manage behavior, and address disruptions.
- Engage students in learning activities and provide guidance.
- Monitor progress, provide feedback, administer assessments, and submit reports.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
- Report incidents or issues to appropriate personnel.
- Ensure physical and emotional safety, following health and emergency protocols.
- High school diploma required;
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred. - Teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required.
- Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in different educational settings.
- Basic understanding of classroom technology and instructional tools.
