Under general direction from, and on behalf of, the University Registrar, the Associate Registrar (Student and Academic Services) provides leadership and oversight of the student services, faculty services, and student records management functions of the Office of the University Registrar. This position is responsible for working and communicating regularly with students (and their families), faculty, and academic program/unit leaders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all student records and the quality of related service to/support of internal and external constituents.
To those ends, this Associate Registrar supervises a team of professional staff and student workers in the Office of the University Registrar, and collaborates closely with the Associate Registrar (Academic Systems and Operations) and the University Registrar.
Job Duties:
- Represent the University Registrar and serve in their absence internally (on University committees/task forces, in key meetings, etc.) and externally (at professional association meetings, with state/federal education officials, with other university/corporate partners, etc.)
- Collaborate with the Associate Registrar (Academic Systems and Operations) to ensure that the design and implementation of all academic systems and operations best serve students and the institution in practice; current systems include Ellucian Banner (SIS), Ellucian Degree Works (degree audit), Leepfrog Course Leaf (curriculum management, catalog management, student registration), App Xtender, etc.
- Collaborate with faculty, program chairs, department chairs, and deans to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all individual student academic records
- Lead the design, implementation, and quality assurance of all student- and faculty-facing academic services
- Lead, manage, and supervise multiple professional Registrar's Office staff engaged in student- and faculty-facing academic services
- Meet directly with students and parents/family members to address academic records and services issues/concerns
- Serve as the Registrar's representative to the Academic Records and Review Committee (ARRC) for support and implementation of ARRC decisions
- Direct the creation/maintenance/updating of student and academic/curriculum records in various systems (e.g., degree conferral, major changes, course substitutions, student schedule, transfer credit posting, academic program schedule changes, in completes, academic program catalog changes, etc.)
- Support the work of college/school and University-level curriculum committees via University Registrar policies, processes, and systems
- Assist with general office support, including (but not limited to) answering phone calls, e‑mail, responding to support tickets, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; master's degree in higher education preferred
- At least seven years of related professional experience in a college/university registrar's office, demonstrating increasing responsibility (we will consider as few as four years of direct registrar's office experience if the other three years were in a registrar‑adjacent capacity at college/university); preferably this experience is at an institution(s) similar in size and/or academic scope to SLU
- At least three years of experience supervising professional staff in a registrar's office
- Advanced, leadership-level knowledge of the student- and faculty-focused processes and procedures associated with all registrar office functions
- Advanced knowledge of and expertise using higher education enterprise information systems
