Elementary Summer Jumpstart Classroom Teacher – Intermediate

Pay Rate: $36 per hour
Dates:
July 6 – July 31, Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑3 pm (7‑hour day includes 6 hours of school + prep/plan; additional planning/professional learning time preceding and during summer school not to exceed 18 hours)
To support the academic and social‑emotional development of rising K‑5 students who would most benefit from additional instruction during the summer months. This will be accomplished through
- Direct instruction using district‑adopted resources for universal and small group/targeted instruction
- Heavy emphasis on literacy in K‑2 programming, with additional focus on math in grades 2‑5
- Integration of social‑emotional learning and community circles
- Pre‑teaching of curriculum for upcoming grade levels, with decisions guided by spring student data and needs
- Class/group sizes limited to 10‑12 students per teacher; invitations targeted from elementary schools
- ELA and math programming includes district‑adopted resources for universal instruction (e.g., Heggerty, Sonday, Units of Study, Second Step, Investigations); teacher flexibility to create fun, summer‑camp‑like experiences for students that might otherwise not be available during the school year
- Elementary summer school administrators:
Meghan Taylor and Michael Dragoni - All staff (KSD & SSD) eligible to teach during summer; preference given to certified staff serving students in fall
- Each teacher supports a class of 10‑12 students; placement based on data
- Administrative team oversees student identification, communication, hiring of staff, scheduling, and coordination of data, working closely with building leadership
Staffing needs will be dictated, to some degree, by student enrollment.
