Intramotev is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering Team Lead to guide our talented design team. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical direction and execution of all mechanical systems for our autonomous, battery-electric rail vehicles. You will lead a team of design engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration. This position requires a seasoned leader with a strong background in designing complex systems for vehicles or industrial equipment, who can drive projects from concept to production.

This is a full‑time, in‑office position, based out of St. Louis, MO.

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers, overseeing their work and fostering their professional and technical development.
• Establish the technical roadmap and vision for the mechanical engineering team, aligning it with company objectives and project requirements.
• Direct the complete design lifecycle of mechanical systems, including structures, powertrains, thermal management, and braking systems, from initial concept to final production.
• Oversee the creation and review of complex 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and comprehensive structural and thermal analyses (FEA).
• Drive accountability for project milestones, ensuring the team delivers high‑quality designs on schedule and within budget.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for mechanical engineering, collaborating with cross‑functional leaders in software, electrical, and manufacturing.
• Champion best practices in design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
• Resolve the most challenging technical issues and make critical decisions regarding mechanical design and architecture.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design for vehicles or complex industrial equipment.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of design engineers, including performance management and career development.
• Expert‑level proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, or similar).
• Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches.
• Fluent in both written and verbal English.
