United Bags, Inc. is seeking a detail‑oriented and forward‑thinking Technical Product Engineer to support the development, optimization, and technical performance of our industrial packaging products. This role will collaborate closely with sales, operations, supply chain, and manufacturing partners—both domestic and international—to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, durability, and customer satisfaction. The Product Engineer will play a key role in product design, testing, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across our broad portfolio of packaging solutions.
Key Responsibilities Product Development & Engineering- Lead the design, engineering, and specification of FIBCs, woven polypropylene bags, paper bags, and custom packaging products.
- Develop technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for new and existing products.
- Evaluate customer requirements and translate them into engineered product solutions.
- Conduct product testing, performance validation, and failure analysis to ensure products meet safety and quality standards.
- Partner with suppliers to review materials, construction methods, and product compliance.
- Monitor product quality concerns and recommend corrective actions.
- Work closely with domestic and international manufacturing partners to communicate specifications and ensure production accuracy.
- Support procurement and operations teams in evaluating supplier capabilities and materials.
- Assist in addressing technical issues related to manufacturing, logistics, or product performance.
- Maintain and update manufacturing partner certifications.
- Identify opportunities to enhance product durability, manufacturability, and cost‑effectiveness.
- Optimize existing products based on customer feedback, industry trends, and internal performance data.
- Support sustainability initiatives through material selection, design efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for the sales team, providing product expertise and customer‑specific engineering guidance.
- Participate in customer meetings to discuss technical requirements, performance expectations, and custom solutions.
- Create and maintain product documentation, technical sheets, and training materials.
- Manage customer claims process with salespeople and manufacturers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of engineering experience in packaging, textiles, manufacturing, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of materials, structural integrity, load testing, and product design fundamentals.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Ability to travel as needed to customer facilities for claims and product design.
- Experience with FIBCs, woven polypropylene, industrial packaging, or sewn‑goods manufacturing.
- Knowledge of global manufacturing processes and supplier management.
- Familiarity with quality systems, product certification standards, and compliance requirements.
