About Wing XpandWing Xpand® is expanding what’s possible with autonomous systems. Our 8‑ft smart plane grows from a backpack to help farmers grow more yield, enable public safety crews to respond faster, and keep soldiers safe. We’re a rapidly growing startup building the future of smart, connected robotics.
Position DescriptionWe’re looking for a tenacious engineer who thrives on solving hard, ambiguously defined problems that have a massive impact. You will take ownership of critical electrical systems, move from concept to creation on tight deadlines, and work closely with mechanical, software, and autonomy experts.
Key Responsibilities- Own hardware from concept to code: translate requirements into schematics, lead PCB layout, develop low‑level firmware (C/C++), and perform board bring‑up.
- Roll up your sleeves and build: wire, solder, assemble prototypes, build test harnesses, troubleshoot hardware, and implement real‑time design improvements.
- Solve system‑level challenges: collaborate with cross‑functional teams, optimize for SWaP, and ruggedize systems to meet IPXX standards.
- Tackle high‑energy power systems: design, integrate, and validate high‑power density battery solutions for aircraft core power.
- Validate and fly: support stringent environmental testing and field operations, seeing immediate results of your work.
- 8+ years of experience in aerospace, robotics, or automotive; proven ability to solve loosely‑defined problems.
- Hardware expertise coupled with firmware skills in C/C++; proficiency in PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, KiCad).
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast pace; can translate broad goals into concrete tasks.
- Systems thinker who recognizes component choices impact power budget, EMI, flight endurance, and reliability.
- Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience building and programming complex electronic systems from prototype to production.
- Hands‑on soldering, wiring, and lab equipment use (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Strong embedded firmware programming in C/C++.
- High‑density, high‑current battery systems and BMS experience.
- FAA Part 107 certification or passion for flying drones/RC aircraft.
- RF systems, antenna design, or communication protocols experience.
- Simulation tools such as SPICE or MATLAB familiarity.
To comply with U.S. Government aerospace export regulations, an applicant must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident/Green Card Holder).
We offer a competitive package based on experience, including stock options and advancement opportunities as we expand.
If you are self‑motivated, results‑driven, and passionate about innovation, we want to hear from you. Apply today and join us on the journey to expand the possibilities of aerial intelligence.
