Overview
GFT is seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team in St. Louis, MO
. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our St. Louis office.
Our construction management services focus on safety, quality, and sustainability to transform communities and enhance lives through efficient project delivery.
What You’ll Do- Inspect and oversee construction work to ensure results, procedures, and materials comply with plans and specifications.
- Serve as daily point of contact with clients and contractors; manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing, and maintaining documentation.
- Measure distances to verify dimensional accuracy of installations and layouts.
- Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
- Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specifications.
- Prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
- Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and approve installations.
- Interpret plans and specifications for Contractors and discuss deviations to ensure compliance with construction regulations.
- Record quantities of materials, develop pay estimates and change orders.
- Maintain daily construction and inspection logs and compare with progress reports.
- Monitor multiple work activities as appropriate and maintain construction safety practices and methods for compliance.
- Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection.
- Safety-first mindset.
- Strong writing, listening, and communication skills.
- 4+ years of Transportation Engineering experience with state DOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
- ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state DOT certification are recommended, but not required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients, and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
- Ability and desire to lead.
The salary range for this role is $77,000 - $114,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
