Design Build Manager

William Charles Construction, a Mas Tec Company, is searching for an experienced Design Build Manager to join our team. This role can be based in Indiana or Missouri.

Mas Tec’s Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group (CE&I) is a $4 billion annual revenue business unit that provides construction services for industrial facilities, building products manufacturers, power generation facilities, manufacturing plants, solar, wind, and thermal energy plants, buildings, and infrastructure.

• Lead and assist in the development of future design‑build proposals.
• Manage the design‑build process from conception through the design phase.
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Encourage and inspire design consultants to produce their best work creatively and cost‑effectively.
• Lead constructability review efforts with design and construction team members.

• Supervise and mentor project engineers, architects, and construction personnel.
• Facilitate communication between design and construction teams to ensure alignment.
• Assemble and lead high‑performing multi‑discipline project teams.
• Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.

• Review and approve design plans, ensuring they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to refine designs based on constructability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with design partners and owner agencies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and design partners.
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, challenges, and solutions.
• Manage client expectations and ensure client satisfaction.

• Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
• Implement safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on job sites.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and variances.
• Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to optimize costs.

• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
• Address and resolve any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in civil construction management, with a focus on design‑build projects.
• Experience working with state Department of Transportation offices.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
• Proficient in project management software and tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
• Advanced supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to wear PPE and safety devices when required.
• Valid state‑issued driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Travel requirement – 25%, or as needed based on business demands.
