Manufacturing EngineerPosition Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer is a "hands‑on" position that plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing equipment and processes to produce high‑quality manufactured products. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects from conception to completion, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes, assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements, quantifying results, documenting and presenting findings to management, and preparing reports.
This position mentors and provides training for other personnel.
This role involves collaborating with multiple departments, managing resources, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.
Manufacturing Engineer Essential Functions- Develop new processes, assess and document new and existing processes. Implement and evaluate changes to existing processes designed to improve product quality, productivity, and overall equipment efficiency.
- Develop and maintain process documentation ensuring that processes and procedures are clearly stated and understandable for all employees. Provide technical support/solutions to manufacturing processes, improve yield and throughput, drive cost reduction activities and improve part quality.
- Demonstrated ability to start‑up, operate and shut down process‑related equipment. Must be able to work independently on new process development as well as troubleshooting current production issues.
- Interact with customers to resolve issues and provide new project updates.
- Implement technical solutions including statistical methodology to meet customer cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
- Facilitate and support facility and manufacturing safety, environmental, and ergonomics efforts.
- Maintain records, files, and other documentation pertinent to assignments.
- Position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.
- Inspect new products and assist Quality Department in FAI, validation, or PPAP.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods.
- Provide manufacturing decision‑making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
- Assist in capital equipment rebuilding or replacement projects.
- Assist with new product manufacturing processes, product drawings, inspection control plans, first‑article submission, process capability analysis.
- Drive and manage Kaizen events.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw rapid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret mathematical and graphical data.
- Work with abstract and variables to draw conclusions.
- Ability to handle multiple variables at once to aid in problem solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology or equal amount of experience and education with CAD/CAM programming with CNC experience.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen events is preferable.
- Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings such as machine schematics, part drawings, etc. Effectively present information to management and staff and communicate effectively in a team atmosphere.
- Good analytical skills are applicable to problem solving.
- Self‑starter must be able to work with little direction and with a high level of self‑motivation.
- Possess great time‑management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple start‑up projects.
