Our range of preconstruction and construction services in the commercial, institutional, industrial, life sciences, healthcare and concrete markets is extensive. Tarlton works on projects diverse in scope and size, in both renovation and new construction.

The Estimator (title commensurate with experience) will be responsible for providing accurate and complete estimates for projects based on project‑specific considerations, primarily in civil, water/wastewater, energy, and concrete markets. This individual will assist the preconstruction team in expanding our service area to all of Missouri, Illinois‑South of Peoria, Southern Iowa, and Eastern Kansas. This individual will maintain and build relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and clients to ensure maximum knowledge and competitiveness of proposals.
Their primary role will be to deliver various levels of pricing detail from conceptual budgets for design‑build projects to traditional design‑bid‑build proposals.
PRE AWARD:
- Evaluate project plans, requirements, specifications, and jobsite conditions
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing
- Review labor agreements for work rules and wage
- Develop means and methods, productivity, and pricing for self‑perform work
- Develop and evaluate subcontractor packages
- Develop, consider, and execute strategy to win work
- Lead pursuit teams of engineers, managers, superintendents, and subcontractors
- Prepare preliminary project schedule and execution plans
- Prepare project costs for review with senior leadership
POST AWARD:
- Assist buyout process with vendors and suppliers
- Prepare post bid information and summary
- Lead project debriefs and the integration of lessons learned for future project pursuits
Self‑motivator, above average aggressiveness, efficient time manager, above average sociability, aptitude for planning, organizing, and problem solving. Must have the desire to meet required demanding deadlines.
PREREQUISITES (Education/Experience)- Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Architecture or Construction Management is preferred
- Minimum of five years’ experience in Estimating or Project Management
- Competency in self‑performing scopes including but not limited to grading, civil utilities, concrete, or steel erection.
- Market experience in general civil, water/wastewater, concrete, T&D energy, renewable energy, or industrial.
- Conceptual and design‑build estimating is beneficial but not required.
- General Contracting background is beneficial but not required.
- Industry Certifications or PMP, CPE, DBIA, etc… beneficial but not required.
