Design Engineer III

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Leads multiple engineering programs, including defining the project scope of works, product development records, milestones, and staff requirements, and customer requirements.
• Leads complete product design programs from requirements definition through detailed design, analysis, prototyping, verification, qualification testing, and production handoff.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of material with appropriate GD&T and configuration control. (Solidworks Prefered)
• Perform or coordinate necessary engineering analyses (e.g., structural, thermal, tolerance, reliability, FMEA) to validate design adequacy prior to test.
• Plan and lead prototype build activities, working closely with manufacturing, supply chain, test, and quality to resolve technical issues.
• Develop verification and qualification plans, including test methods, success criteria, sample configuration, and traceability to requirements.
• Support or lead execution of design verification and qualification testing, including test readiness, test oversight, data review, and anomaly resolution.
• Analyze test results, document non-conformances, drive root cause and corrective actions, and update designs and documentation as required.
• Prepare and present design reviews (concept, preliminary, critical design, test readiness, qualification/production readiness) to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Generate and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, analysis summaries, test reports, and qualification evidence.
• Coordinate with project management to provide engineering inputs to schedules, risk registers, and resource planning; proactively manage technical risks.
• Provide technical support through production launch and early field use, including evaluation of issues and implementation of design improvements.
• Champion design-for-manufacture, design-for-assembly, and design-for-reliability practices throughout the product lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design and qualification processes, tools, and standards.
• Makes improvement suggestions for department processes and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
• 5–8+ years of progressive product design and development experience, including direct responsibility for verification and qualification or certification testing in a regulated or standards-driven environment.
• Demonstrated experience owning designs from concept through detailed design, prototype build, test, and transition to production, ideally within aerospace or highly regulated industries.
