Position OverviewAs a mid to experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in HVAC design, you will contribute expertise to Henderson Engineers across six markets—Business, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Venue. Supporting the firm’s growing refrigeration design needs, you will integrate engineering knowledge with on‑field experience to deliver a client experience unlike any other in the industry.
Key Responsibilities- Perform calculations and design systems with a high degree of independence.
- Prepare detailed mechanical layouts, drawings, and schematics.
- Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
- Research and make recommendations on feasibility of systems or equipment.
- Assist with developing relationships with strategic partners and customers to support business development.
- Proactively seek opportunities for continuous learning of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Products.
- May support project coordination activities such as managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, attending client meetings, ensuring project quality, and responding to client questions.
- Act as a resource for training or assisting others as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural engineering preferred and 3 years of relevant experience, or 5 years without a degree required. PE license may count toward 1 year of experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural engineering preferred and 7 years of relevant experience or 9 years without a degree required. PE license may count toward 1 year of experience.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards required.
