OpportunityAn experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager is needed within Stantec's Water Sector in St. Louis, MO. The role focuses on planning, analyzing, and designing water resources systems and facilities (e.g., hydraulic and hydrologic studies, dams, levees, flood control, etc.) primarily in the municipal market and power sectors, as part of a dynamic design team.
Key Responsibilities- Work effectively with all project team members, including the client, project manager, and junior staff.
- Coordinate with engineers and technical staff to meet project needs in a timely and effective manner.
- Prepare proposals for new projects.
- Manage project budgets, staff allocation, and review invoices prior to issuance to the client.
- Follow established processes for obtaining necessary project approvals from various agencies.
- Prepare detailed design calculations, develop construction drawings and specifications, and oversee design implementation.
- Write technical reports and design briefs to document analyses.
- Take responsibility for the quality of written, technical, and graphic work.
- Plan, organize, and manage the production of project deliverables to ensure on‑time delivery, technical quality, and budget adherence— including coordination of work efforts and preparation of deliverables reports, client stewardship, and collaboration with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
- Execute multiple concurrent projects efficiently.
- Conduct alternative analyses to support business case evaluations for project decisions.
- Mentor junior staff and supervise direct reports.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships and implement business development strategies for key clients.
- Lead professional society involvement, including preparation and presentation of papers at conferences and seminars.
- Support talent recruitment and development.
- Ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines throughout all phases of project planning and execution.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with a customer‑focused approach.
- Demonstrated resource planning, results delivery, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Strong understanding of federal and state regulations and permitting requirements.
- Proven ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships.
- Experience managing teams and supervising direct reports.
- Knowledge of documents related to requests for proposals, invitations for bid, and tendering offers.
- Effective teamwork and independent initiative.
- Project and task management experience with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.
- Efficient project management/technical leadership of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
- Understanding of client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and high‑quality deliverables.
- Effective communicator able to lead teams.
- Strong presentation and interview skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation.
- Knowledge of design and construction codes.
- Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Bachelor of Science (minimum) in Civil, Water Resources, Biological Systems, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related degree required;
Master’s preferred. - Minimum 5 years of prior experience in a similar role.
- Professional Licensure (P.E.) required.
- Typical office environment with computer use; field work may involve exposure to inclement weather.
