Role Overview:

This industrial hygiene (IH) consultant role will be outsourced full time to one of Apex’s long term valued clients at a facility in St. Louis, MO. Relocation assistance is available.

The consultant will be embedded with the client’s IH team and execute sampling projects, create reports, provide deliverables, and suggest path-forward recommendations. This role will routinely involve working ‘on the shop floor’ with employees, collecting personal samples and sharing/documenting results with client stakeholders and within the client’s IH database. The consultant will be supported by the client IH team and will be involved in ensuring the effective ongoing administration of a variety of IH programs.

This is a great learning role for an early career worker exposed to industrial hygiene.

Perhaps most importantly, the incumbent will be a customer driven, energetic self‑starter with the ability to work independently. From an interpersonal skillset perspective, the ideal candidate will be outgoing enough to be comfortable engaging in conversations with client personnel of all levels – from shop floor touch labor to first line supervisors to management.

Responsibilities as an Industrial Hygienist:

  • Providing comprehensive IH consulting services to client teams, focused on identifying, assessing and risk‑ranking employee exposures to injury or illness, and developing solution options aimed at mitigating injury/illness exposures.
  • Setting organizational procedures and standards in collaboration with Apex client relationship managers.
  • Implementing and executing an agreed‑to service plan in close routine collaboration with the Apex client. Reporting progress on plan completion as directed. Working with numerous internal and external stakeholders in the interest of achieving desired overall project velocity.

What we're looking for:

  • Associate degree required in a science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree highly desired, preferably in science, engineering, or health & safety.
  • 1+ years of hands‑on IH sampling experience desired.
  • Possess knowledge of occupational IH technical subject matter and how to apply it in real‑life settings. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the IH field such as:
    Shop Floor IH Sampling / Monitoring practices & techniques for chemicals; noise; ventilations systems, vertical standards; hazard communication; hearing conservation; respiratory protection; confined space entry; similar exposure groups (SEG) monitoring concepts.
  • Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi‑task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.
  • Experience with IH data management and IH report preparation.
  • Experience in manufacturing and assembly industries / heavy industry settings a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass an industry‑standard background check required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
