Join Olsson’s dynamic and expanding Roadway team as a Senior Engineer and have a pivotal impact in shaping the success of our growth in the St. Louis area. Olsson provides multidisciplinary design services for transportation‑related projects including urban and rural highways, interchanges, and municipal roadways.
In this influential role you will spread technical excellence, serve as the lead engineer and trusted advisor on intricate projects, and provide high‑level technical design, oversee quality assurance/control, and manage projects with a keen eye on scope, schedule, and budget. You will review contracts, champion efficiency, curate technical resources, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to guide less experienced staff, contribute to team building, and engage in client relations.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Provides high‑level project design and review of project documents and design quality for complex projects.
- Serves as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering concepts and developing approaches to solve for complexities.
- Performs QA/QC and ensures delivery of completed designs meets quality standards and project objectives.
- Conducts research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.
- Advises and directs staff on design approaches to fulfill project requirements.
- Works collaboratively to promote efficiencies and produce high‑quality work.
- Contributes to the development of standards and/or guidelines for engineering activities within the team.
- Supervises, mentors, and reviews technical assignments of less experienced staff.
- Working collaboratively with others.

- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Project management experience including scope, schedule, and budget control.
- 8+ years of experience in highway or municipal design.
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- Experience with Micro Station and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Connectivity with local municipalities in the St. Louis area strongly preferred.
