Application Chemist Job Description
We are seeking a temporary full-time project lead to execute, coordinate, and document a defined portfolio of collaborative initiatives. These initiatives focus on reducing adoption barriers, enabling automation readiness, and expanding product positioning across spectroscopy, process analytics, and bioprocess monitoring platforms.
PAY - $40 - $45
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables for nine identified CAD–BCC projects.
Coordinate seed unit placements, tracking, and evaluation for various instruments including Smart Raman DXR, AIO, Tru Scan, Nano Drop, Prima Pro, MAX-IR, and Process
16.Support competitive benchmarking and comparison analyses versus alternative vendor technologies.
Facilitate cross-functional meetings with CAD product managers, engineers, BCC scientists, and PSG stakeholders.
Compile and analyze evaluation data, particularly for comparative and automation-readiness projects.
Prepare technical summaries, application notes, and white papers highlighting findings and recommendations.
Contribute to OPC-UA standardization documentation and develop automation-readiness frameworks with vendors.
Conduct paper-based assessments for Prima Pro, MAX-IR, summarizing technical fit and market opportunity.
Liaise between CAD Division, BCC, and PSG to ensure alignment of study objectives and resource allocation.
Collaborate with automation vendors and partners for data collection and technical validation.
Prepare summary presentations and internal reports for leadership reviews and roadmap discussions.
Develop a standardized utilization process for PSG seed placements.
Establish frameworks for competitive analysis and product validation consistency across CAD platforms.
Strong understanding of analytical instrumentation including Raman, FTIR, NIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and process analytics.
Familiarity with automation protocols and industrial communication standards such as OPC-UA and PLC integration.
Experience with bioprocess development workflows and/or pharma/biopharma process analytical technology (PAT).
Ability to conduct data analysis, compile findings, and write technical reports, application notes, or white papers.
Proven ability to manage multiple parallel projects and coordinate cross-functional teams.
Competence in tracking deliverables, scheduling milestones, and ensuring on-time reporting.
Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to interface between technical and commercial teams.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field.
3+ years of experience in analytical development, process analytics, or instrumentation applications.
Familiarity with CAD product lines or competing analytical technologies is highly advantageous.
The position requires full-time commitment, with a schedule from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. This is a 12‑month term with potential for renewal or conversion based on results and business needs. The role is based on‑site at BCC, with coordination across CAD product teams.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
