OpportunityUlteig is seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Supervisor, Civil/Structural Engineering - Renewables, within the Energy Solutions department. This role focuses on leading a subset of the solar and battery storage design teams’ engineers and technicians to foster on-the-job leadership development and support projects. The Engineer will report directly to the Technical Manager and collaborate with other corporate business units such as sales, marketing, account management, and project management.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Technical Lead – 60%
- Manage and/or perform structural engineering activities during the development, design, and construction stages of multiple ongoing projects.
- Provide project oversight, including managing engineering scope per technical contracts, developing change orders, and maintaining project schedules.
- Coordinate activities between multiple disciplines and the project manager on complex projects.
- Maintain high levels of quality and responsiveness to meet internal and external client requirements.
- Oversee design activities of team members.
- Review project drawings, calculations, and specifications; assume charge as needed.
Management Responsibilities – 30%
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for employees to achieve individual, team, department, and organizational performance goals.
- Coach, train, and develop engineering technical staff for growth and development opportunities.
- Offer assistance and direction to direct reports on all matters related to team, department, and company business decisions.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings (bi‑weekly at a minimum) with the Technical Manager.
- Plan the workload for all direct reports and collaborate with other Engineering Supervisors and Technical Managers on broader group project resource planning.
- Conduct regular employee 1:1s, quarterly and annual employee performance reviews, training, and professional development.
- Support and engage in attracting and hiring new talent.
Business Development Responsibilities – 10%
- Partner with the Sales team and engineers to promote revenue growth and expand services with existing and prospective clients.
- Support proposal efforts by developing, providing resources, and reviewing proposals with the Proposal Development Team, Project Management group, and other departments.
- Manage, develop, and leverage existing client relationships by staying in regular contact with key clients.
- B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program (required).
- Professional Engineer (PE and/or PEng) or Structural Engineer (SE) registration required. NCEES Council Record or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 6+ years of structural engineering experience. Specific experience in structural foundation design on utility‑scale solar and/or battery storage projects in a fast‑paced consulting environment is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and project execution, including tracker, inverter, and BESS equipment suppliers.
- In‑depth knowledge of ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, and ACI 318 required; understanding of ASTM test methods desired.
- Proficiency in interpreting geotechnical data reports and estimating representative engineering properties of onsite soils; ability to communicate associated risks to team and client.
- Proficiency in oversight and interpretation of pile testing preferred.
- Seismic design experience and proficiency required.
- Analytical, self‑motivated, able to work under high‑pressure situations while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong analytical and information management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public, and external agencies.
- High initiative, ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness.
- Excellent presentation and verbal/written communication skills.
- Openness to innovation, embracing evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and related software.

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is: $117,300 – $158,000. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, education, training, location, years of experience, and comparison to other employees in this role.
