Job Description Intermediate Electrical Engineer
PENTA is seeking a motivated Intermediate Electrical Engineer with experience in industrial electrical design, control systems, and automation projects. This role supports the design and execution of electrical, power distribution, and automation systems while working closely with senior engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include developing electrical design packages, supporting construction activities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and assisting with project execution.
This position operates in a collaborative engineering environment with occasional travel to clients and project sites.
- Support the design and execution of electrical, control, power distribution, and automation projects.
- Develop electrical design deliverables including one-line diagrams, panel layouts, I/O lists, conduit and cable schedules, grounding systems, and bills of materials.
- Assist with PLC/SCADA systems, industrial controls, instrumentation integration, and automation design.
- Perform electrical calculations and support power distribution and motor control system design.
- Review vendor submittals, MCC/VFD specifications, instrumentation selections, and control panel designs.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to support project execution and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, and client standards.
- Provide construction support including RFIs, troubleshooting, commissioning assistance, and field coordination.
- Support quality control efforts, design consistency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with project estimates, budgets, and proposal support as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- 4–8 years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, controls, or automation projects.
- EIT certification preferred; PE eligibility is a plus.
- Experience with power distribution systems, instrumentation, industrial controls, and automation design.
- Familiarity with PLC/SCADA systems, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and ISA standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM, or similar design software preferred.
- Understanding construction support, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and manage multiple project assignments.
