Overview

Lighting Event Technician role at Markey's (formerly Ironman Sound Industries).

Location:

St. Louis, MO. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt) position eligible for overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with clients, Project Managers, and other Event Technicians to ensure the successful completion of events.
  • Operate lighting equipment for live and virtual events, including professional lighting consoles, Art-Net and sACN DMX systems, moving head fixtures, wireless up lights, follow spots, and hazer/fog systems.
  • Setup, strike, loading, and unloading of all forms of event equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service while promptly handling equipment changes or requests.
  • Ensure equipment is functionally, safely, and professionally set up for execution of all events.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues with satisfactory resolutions.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of tech areas.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned to ensure the success of Markey's events.
Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of all types of lighting equipment, including operation, setup, troubleshooting, and explanation of equipment use.
  • Preferred prior knowledge of Avolites consoles;
    Pathway Connectivity VIA and Pathport products;
    Martin Viper, Quantum, Aura or Rush fixtures;
    Chauvet Ovation or Freedom Par fixtures; or Elation Proteus Rayzor or Fuze Max fixtures.
  • Excellent customer service skills with polite and prompt responses to client needs.
  • Ability to work in both collaborative team environments and independently.
  • Ability to follow directions from the Project Manager or Crew Lead and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Attention to detail, strong time management, and ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external clients.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Commitment to Markey's culture, company values, diversity, and policies.
  • Must maintain a good driving record, be able to pass a DOT medical certification, and obtain any special licensing needed to operate company vehicles.
  • Physical demands include frequent bending, pushing/pulling gear, and lifting up to 70 lbs.
