The opportunity
EY Private Tax is a growing practice focusing on privately held companies, from family-owned businesses to private equity-owned companies. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects with ample support and the potential to progress to senior manager.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Support senior managers through partners in providing tax services; balance time between compliance and planning; interact directly with clients with a focus on flow-through entities (partnerships).
- Prepare or review federal and state tax returns for U.S. partnerships; assist with foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, foreign affiliate reporting).
- Provide tax research, drafting memoranda, and assistance in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
- Identify and communicate significant tax matters to Managers and Senior Managers.
- Liaise and build relationships with other service lines and professionals.
- Build long-term client relationships and tailor services to client needs.
- Communicate complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients.
- Maintain professional reputation by updating and sharing technical knowledge.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals; review work and ensure team has necessary tools and opportunities.
- Identify and react to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with tax, business or financial planning experience.
- CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
- Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills; ability to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization.
- Willingness to travel and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- Commitment to continuing learning.
- Proficiency with tax software (RIA, CCH Intelli Connect, One Source, BNA or Lexis Nexis).
- Experience with Gift, Estate and Trust tax planning and compliance is a plus.
- Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Tax professionals with a genuine interest in providing outstanding services to clients and building trusted advisor relationships; ability to work with executives, entrepreneurs, investors and families.
