Position Summary

The Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership and analysis in support of the school's mission, priorities, and long-term financial sustainability. This role partners with the Dean and Executive Director of Finance and Administration to lead a transparent, collaborative budget development process, monitor financial performance, and provide timely reporting and forecasting to support informed decision-making. The Director also leverages Workday functionality to improve financial transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency across the school.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership
    - Provides strategic financial leadership and analysis to the Dean in support of the school's mission, priorities, and long-term financial sustainability.
  • Financial Planning & Stewardship
    - Aligns school financial planning with institutional goals and ensures responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Budget Development
    - Leads a transparent, collaborative budget development process with school leadership and administrative units.
  • Forecasting, Reconciliation, and Variance Analysis
    - Develops financial projections, monitors budget performance, and provides variance analysis, reconciliation, and forecasting.
  • Reporting and Financial Transparency
    - Creates reporting processes that promote transparency, accountability, and timely access to financial information for stakeholders.
  • Workday & Financial Systems
    - Leverages Workday functionality to improve financial operations, reporting, planning, and workflow efficiency.
  • Financial Review of New Initiatives
    - Evaluates new programs, initiatives, and financial proposals for fiscal impact and strategic alignment.
  • Liaison and External Financial Representation
    - Represents the school in financial discussions with central administration, other university units, and external partners; serves as a liaison on institutional financial matters, regulatory changes, and system updates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
